Installed yet another weather app, @helloweather, after reading about it here. Good privacy policy. Indie developers. My kind of thing.
Noticed the app had links to Twitter and not to Mastodon and asked them about that.
And got a great response!
"we’re not active on Twitter anymore. Our new version (coming soon) will kill off the Twitter links!"
@jeridansky @helloweather I’ll give it a go!
@jeridansky @ai6yr @helloweather I really like the forecast display on @helloweather but why would I pay for everything else when I can get it free from the national weather office, or even #Ventusky or instantweatherinc.com? Both of those do have premium levels, but give good accurate details for most if not all what hello wants 'Fan Club' dues to impart.
Is there something I'm missing?
@teledyn @ai6yr The @helloweather folks could answer you better than I can, so I’ll defer to them.
I’ll just note, as someone with multiple weather apps and a link to the NOAA website on my phone, that the differences seem to be largely a matter of user interface design (and also data sources). I’ll happily pay for a user interface that works well for me.
