John Carlsen 🇺🇸🇳🇱🇪🇺

I'm looking for work.

I'm a dual citizen, authorized and willing to work in or near Sunnyvale CA (Silicon Valley) or remotely for a company in any part of the EU or US where reasonable human rights exist (equality for genders & LGBT+, abortion access, freedom of/from religion, etc.)--in short, no red states.

I develop intelligent technology and business systems, including their hardware (usually at circuit board level), software (applications and embedded firmware), and documentation, generally as a consultant, contractor, principal, or director (equivalent to Google L8). My project budgets have ranged from zero (startups) to $1-billion (at a company the size of Google). My degrees include BSCS, BBA, and 5 AAs.

My site: syncopate.us

www.syncopate.usSyncopated SystemsSyncopated Systems specializes in research and development of electronic computer technologies that automate, boost productivity, and provide valuable products and services for aerospace, consumer, entertainment, industrial, and medical applications, including robots and new media such as video games and the World-Wide Web.

Because someone asked about me not being a PE (state-licensed Professional Engineer):

As an independent contractor, I have to be very clear not to advertise my services as an "engineer", because many (if not most or all) states require that those advertising services as an "engineer" have a PE license.

When working as an employee (not as an independent contractor), my employers generally include "engineer" in my job title, and the states grant them that right.

About 99% of working engineers today aren't PEs; they are most common among civil engineers, who work to assure the safety of our roads, bridges, dams, etc.
