Remember the Firesign Theater? Remember their album "We Are All Bozos On This Bus"?
Well, apparently that bus has visited the Firefox/Mozilla people.
Firefox on the Mac now is stuck in https only mode. It doesn't even seem to try http any more. I've got HTTPS-Only mode explicitly turned off in the settings, I have added an override. I've cleared caches, I've restarted Firefox. But no, Firefox has become a bullying nanny and refuses to do HTTP.
(The October release of Firefox crows how they turned HTTPS-Only on for all websites. Well they turned it on without a working way to override it.)
Safari works fine. (And I refuse to use Chrome.)
This is utterly beyond merely annoying. I'm working with IoT gear that doesn't necessarily do HTTPS.
(Firefox can't even seem to remember its own HTTPS-Only exception list - it gets auto cleared.)
