Here's an unusual view of the #Florida #Citrus #Tower, in #Clermont, not too far from Orlando.

Opened in 1956, it stands 226 feet tall. When my family used to visit it, in the mid to late 60's, it was surrounded by nothing but orange groves as far as the eye could see. Now it's surrounded by suburbs full of cookie-cutter houses. Back then, naturally, it didn't double as a cell phone tower, either.

Unlike so many other roadside attractions in Florida that have been killed by Disney, Universal, and the like, the Citrus Tower is still hanging on by its fingernails. A remnant of an older Florida that still exists in out of the way corners of the state.
