If you have a 3d printer, I highly recommend printing your own phone case using TPU. I made this for my iPhone 12 Pro because Apple stopped selling cases for it. This thing is indestructible, looks great, and technically home made. I avoided printing with support material by printing a jig first, pausing the printer at the right layer height, dropping in the jig, and resuming the print. All in cost of materials: $2.

Theatre prop creation is a blast. I made this tiny hammer as a visual gag that is planned for an aerial play I'm in. It is really fulfilling being able to read what is needed in group chat and respond "I'm on it. I'll have it for you tomorrow".

In my prop creation journey for this show I've learned some more skills in 3D modeling, 3D printing, LED control, manufacturing engineering, electrical for small projects, drawing, and using threaded inserts. I've also gained knowledge in different types of screws, drilling PLA, and different types of glue to use with 3D prints.

For this show I've made a necklace, a star lamp, and a tiny hammer.

Made a teeny version of my star lamp as a necklace for the Brass Butterflies aerial show I'm performing in on Saturday. Instead of using a diffusion plate behind the face plate I printed a plate in the same colour as the rest of the necklace pendant. I'm hoping this will add some fun visual complexity.

Next step is to glue a magnet to the back of the pendant so the necklace can stick to the magnet in the costume of the performer who will be wearing the necklace. I also need to drill a couple holes for a necklace chain to pass through the tip of the star. If I have time I'll also carefully dremel out some of the excess superglue holding the backplate and pendant together to clean up the look of the piece. If I had more time to work on this piece I'd be figuring out how to electroplate it too, but I'll have to save that skill pickup for another project.

My favourite part of all this prop making is learning how much I absolutely love making props and art pieces. This is all so fulfilling, especially with all the new skills I am picking up. I am full of joy.

I played around with my watchy after getting it last month. Almost immediately destroyed the eink screen. AliExpress saved me with that one.
I want a quick reference of time on my desk and this fits the bill!
I'm also looking forward to the new pebble watches!

This ukulele project was getting me down

My printer wouldn't function more than 2 consecutive hours. To me that sounds like overheating. Also the usb has gotten flaky and the sd card reader died so I bought a new controller board...

And I bought a new printer because I didn't want to wait to fix the old one.

Things are working out well! Here are the parts I've printed so far and the dry fit is good.

Blaze, 6 star Centurion Guard of Rhodes Island, Arknights.

This sculpt is taken straight from her e1 art, but damned if I'm going to get her eyes bright green when they're this fucking small. I also couldn't paint her tiny-ass ID badge or the text on her right sleeve, because there is NO access to that.

And before you ask, I have the dancing shoes so she can deploy on high ground.
