In a recent study, <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/antigen" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>antigen</span></a> &amp; <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/PCR" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>PCR</span></a> tests only agreed 47-58% of the time. If they did agree, there was a 1-8 day delay between a PCR turning positive &amp; an antigen test turning positive.</p><p>The higher we are in a wave, the more skeptical you should be of a negative result. There are 2 things you can do to help reduce false negatives</p><p>Swab throat &amp; salvia. These are positive days before the nose.</p><p>Repeat testing. 2 tests within 48 hours catch 92% of <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/symptomatic" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>symptomatic</span></a> cases &amp; 39% of <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/asymptomatic" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>asymptomatic</span></a> cases. 3 tests 48 hours apart detected 94% of symptomatic &amp; 57% of asymptomatic patients.</p><p>If you get a positive…<br />Positives are positives. morgandawn<p>When to test for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/COVID" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>COVID</span></a><br /> <br />&quot;People often have questions regarding home rapid <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/antigen" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>antigen</span></a> Covid tests. A new study shows that if someone is exposed to Covid but they do not have symptoms, they should do a rapid antigen test three times at 48 hour intervals (i.e. day 1, 3, 5) in order to rule out a COVID infection. But, if someone has Covid symptoms after an exposure, they should do a rapid antigen home test two times separated by 48 hours (i.e. day 1 and day 3) in order to rule out being infected.&quot;</p><p><a href="https://www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M23-0385" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/M2</span><span class="invisible">3-0385</span></a></p><p>Source:<a href="https://drruth.substack.com/p/covid-news-and-more-71523" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">drruth.substack.com/p/covid-ne</span><span class="invisible">ws-and-more-71523</span></a></p>
