I'm a middle-aged white male. I'll say this about censorship of so-called LGBTQIA+ books:

If you're offended by books about sexuality, perhaps especially other sexualities than what you feel is your own, you're the problem. Sexuality isn't a problem. Trying to limit other peoples' choices is a problem.

This has nothing to do with 'oh, they're older, things were different then' or any other kind of psychobabble to excuse this type of censorship.

This is xenophobia, nothing else; it's about trying to forbid what you've perhaps not experienced or considerably thought through, which is appalling and anti-intellectual.

We should always speak out when people try to limit the rights of others.

“It’s vital that libraries feel able to provide access to a wide range of perspectives if they are to facilitate the free exchange of ideas.”

Exactly. Back our librarians against those attempting to ape the trend in the US to demand censorship. I understood this concept when I was just a child, first using libraries.

⚡️Lightning

What do you think of storms? I personally like them very much ☺️ I enjoy watching the lightning flash & hearing the thunder roll across the sky, and the rain always feels so refreshing against my skin!

What do you like to do when it rains?

📚 I don't know if you're like me, but after finishing a book I often can remember whether I liked it or not. Less about what really struck me and what I particularly liked (or disliked) and how useful it was/is to me. To cope with that I created me a system that helps me reflect on it, and keep valuable insights about it. It's all in my 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣 🧠

I wonder how many of those putting unfair pressure on UK librarians would be the first to scream "freedom of speech" if challenged?

Look up "The Empty Library" in Berlin. Every time I see newspaper articles like this, I'm reminded of it.

Let people read and do what they want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.
