I don't normally read tell all books but this one is worth a read. You can get through it quickly as it isn't a difficult read. But if you have friends and/or family that use Facebook and they are still capable of any kind of critical thought you should buy them a copy of the book. It's chilling.</p>

The Drop Bear 2.0<p>I finished reading <a href="https://aus.social/tags/CarelessPeople" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarelessPeople</span></a> While the content of the whole book is pretty horrendous, the last third really goes into detail about the incredible, tangible damage Facebook has done in the world.</p>

ꉣꑀꁲꏳꑀꊯꌈ꒒<p>I finished Careless People today. Although some parts were inciting, I am not very surprised. It was pretty interesting to listen to a New Zealander deal with the shortcomings of the US Health Care system, particularly Insurance being tied to occupation. My key takeaway is that there is little value in cozying up to the upper echelons of power in the technology world. <br><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/carelessPeople" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>carelessPeople</span></a></p>
ꉣꑀꁲꏳꑀꊯꌈ꒒<p>If half of what I'm hearing in the book Careless People is true, it makes Zuck seem like he is pretty aloof and not very intelligent outside of his personal interests. I'm starting to see him more like a Dev who got supremely lucky than some business/tech genius.<br><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/CarelessPeople" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarelessPeople</span></a></p>
Michael Simons<p>So, that <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CarelessPeople" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarelessPeople</span></a> book isn't so much a revelation about <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Meta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Meta</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Facebook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Facebook</span></a> but more so a testament about a system that people voluntary participate in to earn $whatever, exploit themselves and let others exploit them, the sheer opposite of community and solidarity.</p><p>And sure, also a portrait of ultra rich motherfuckers that are bored as f*ck and cannot be bothered to the least bit of empathy to anyone but themselves. </p><p>Disgusting (not the book, it's ok, kinda shallow eventually).</p>
Fardels Bear<p>My copy of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CarelessPeople" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarelessPeople</span></a>, by Sarah Wynn-Williams, arrived this morning. The paperback, too, I wouldn't be talked into buying the expensiver hardback version. If the prologue is anything to go by, I'm going to enjoy this. She's a good writer.</p><p>I will post any particularly juicy gobbets I come across.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ZuckMeetStreisand" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ZuckMeetStreisand</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/bookstodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>bookstodon</span></a></span></p>
Maki<p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/CarelessPeople" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CarelessPeople</span></a> by <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SarahWynnWilliams" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SarahWynnWilliams</span></a> is just amazingly written. It's very obvious why <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Meta" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Meta</span></a> wants the book gone. It's a very detailed and clear progression in mindset from the people involved and the methods they used to control the narrative and spin things in their favour. Some of the statements made would be insane if I didn't know people who actually act like that... Well worth a read.</p>
