KidsData<p>Since the pandemic, the number of California students who are chronically absent from school has surged to 1.8 million, says a new study by Thomas Dee at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research.</p><p>Rates of chronic absenteeism jumped to 30% in 2021-2022, from 12% in the school year before the pandemic.
