I handed out flyers at 's festival today. I suspect my Spanish was better the last time I was out there, but I still managed to find a few voters that hadn't voted. ~150 of them!

Politicians seen: Erin Armstrong, Brenda Harbin-Forte, Victor Flores with a cool new BART shirt (available at their store), and Charlene Wang. Supposedly in the crowd: J Tran. Had a booth: Gallo & L Simon.

And WTF - I've had someone in West Oakland and someone in Fruitvale both tell me pipes aren't getting fixed. I know is behind, but are they prioritizing richer areas first? I don't know yet. (Nobody in Alameda has told me this, and I talk to more Alamedans!!!)

We should all have non-leaking manholes!

Fav campaign questions answered #3:

What are your priorities?

Environment and equity. We should have live fish that are safe to eat in our Bay. We should have our poorer areas treated the same as our richer areas.

Fav campaign questions answered #2:

I'm a Republican, why should I vote for you?

Probably the same reason anybody should, you want to be able to fish in the Bay, swim in the Bay, and have great tasting water that's free of microplastics or forever chemicals.

And I promise to have an open door - I'll listen to everybody, even Republicans. BTW I'd love to hear from some landlords about if they have issues with utility bills increasing too quickly.

Also, go read up on my opponent's scandals. I promise, read my lips, no Nixon tapes.

Now a resolution encouraging Clean Air Day on Oct 2. Pledge to take various actions on a website.

Now reports. No action required. No public commentors.

They're looking for comments on their governance proposals. One of the board members told me this is because everything has been handed down orally, and it isn't written down. So now they're writing it - important with so many people leaving.

And adjourned. Wow. That was exactly one hour.

Now ballot measure *proposition* 4.

ch 2, EBMUD could get funding
ch3: EBRP could get funding
ch 4: maybe we'd be eligible
ch5: planting trees for heat mitigation

ch 1: 40% of funding required to go to disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. Accountability measures.

My take: this is probably needed, but I'd be suspicious of the fire prevention funding and what it would go towards, considering history.

Ha, of course Calfire supports.

What happens in an
board meeting? Let's find out!

First public comment speaker mentions negative comments on glass door. And congrats the 3 retiring folks on their retirement.

Second speaker is concerned about the proposed whistleblower policy tying the board's hands. And lol board members aren't supposed to be in staff quarters unless invited - "how do you supervise?"

On to consent. Some language changes. Item 4 is removed. Passes. (Sooo much faster than city council meetings!!!)

444 Union guy is up now for item 4: dump truck services. There are concerns about vacancies. They've hired for some positions, but lost the same number of people. It takes a while to order new trucks. Asking for resources to be allotted to bring down contractors in the future. They're ok with current use of contractors.

Marguerite Young wants to know if you can rent trucks. And have our people drive them. 15k/month to rent. They are renting 12 trucks now.
