This week's Feminist Lecture Program lecture was about relationship anarchy. The lecturer argued against a capitalist romance-centric society that treats affection as a scarce resource and which encourages the creation of relationship hierarchies.

As someone who has often been frustrated by both phenomena (as well as the entertainment culture that feeds off of and perpetuates them), I found the talk, and the presentation of alternatives, refreshing.

If you are a feminist and are not a vegan, you are ignoring the exploitation of female nonhumans and the commodification of their reproductive processes, as well as the destruction of their relationship with their babies;
If you are an environmentalist and not a vegan, you are ignoring the undeniable fact that animal agriculture is an ecological disaster;
If you embrace nonviolence but are not a vegan, then words of nonviolence come out of your mouth as the products of torture and death go into it;
If you claim to love animals but you are eating them or products made from them, or otherwise consuming them, you see loving as consistent with harming that which you claim to love.
Stop trying to make excuses. There are no good ones to make. Go vegan.

One of the clearest signs that mainstream #feminism is just about making us all fit into the #patriarchy is seen in many feminist parenting books.

They typically dismiss attachment parenting, chestfeeding, and co-sleeping as oppressive towards women/mothers. Instead of de-gendering intensive nurture, they essentially chuck the nurture out with the bathwater.

Feminists could be imagining and creating societal structures that support deep care work shared by all genders. But most aren't.
