I appreciate your genuine efforts, @jon, but #Vivaldi is still based on #Chromium… you are technically dependent on a browser engine maintained by #Google! What if all of a sudden they decide to close it? As improbable as it might sound, we are in an epoch of absolutely improbable stuff happening.

I thought about giving Vivaldi a try, but to be honest I was never interested in installing any browser that is not a #Firefox fork.

#FreeSoftware is not an extra added value, but something fundamentally relevant!

(I read your articles about the points I raised, but they are just technical and they gliss political and socio-economic aspects)

Pour les camarades utilisatrices de Firefox, il y a un paramètre pour l'IA qui est activé par défaut.

Pour changer ça il faut taper dans votre barre d'adresse "about:config".
Après avoir dit que vous saviez ce que vous faites, dans le champ qui apparait il faut taper "browser.ml.chat".
Au bout droit des lignes qui apparaissent il y a une icône avec 2 flèches. En cliquant dessus cela va passer la valeur par défaut "true" à "false".

Et voilà.

La nouvelle est sortie il y a deux jours, j'ai pensé à un poisson d'avril. Mais c'est bien réel. #Mozilla, fondation derrière le navigateur #Firefox, prépare un service concurrent à Gmail (Google) et Outlook (Microsoft). Ainsi, #Thunderbird ne sera plus seulement un logiciel à l'avenir. Un bon moyen de financer la fondation sans dépendre de Google pour ses revenus ? Je lui souhaite plus de succès que dans le passé!

#Astuce Pour désactiver le nouveau chatbot dans #Firefox (qui est maintenant activé par défaut) :

  • allez dans « about:config »
  • cherchez la clé « browser.ml.chat.enabled »
  • allez chercher les gens corrompu·e·s de Mozilla corp. qui ont décidé d’intégrer cette merde de force alors que personne n’en veut et pétez leur les genoux
  • mettez la valeur à « false »

After test-driving various browsers, I'm back with #Firefox

I tried Chromium, qutebrowser, Brave, Vivaldi, Zen & Floorp.

The minimal keyboard-driven UI of Qute was my favorite, but it lacks some mainstream extension support that I need.

Vivaldi can be customized with details like toolbar at the bottom, but had some crashers and oddities.

Zen's "Compact mode" is great, but it has a serious light-mode theming bug.

Firefox isn't perfect, but is today's sweet spot.
