Is its model even sustainable? A good question—one that presupposes the European model is worth defending. RaymondPierreL3Living in a major regional centre has its plusses and minuses. On the plus side everything I need is within a 5 minute drive and the people here are friendlier than in capital cities. The downside is their deeply encrusted conservatism which bars me from entertaining any healthy discussions dealing with religions, politics, social issues and diversity in all its forms. I am confined to having those chats with a wall of silicone adorned with avatars fronting for other humans also sitting and interacting with key abled display devices. Luckily for my mental health, the forbidden subjects in RL are quasi-mandatory on social media. Now that I have found freedom (from muck and trolls) on the ‘fediverse’, there is little chance I will start conversing with myself out loud for want of interaction with other people.
