I wonder how many of those putting unfair pressure on UK librarians would be the first to scream "freedom of speech" if challenged?

Look up "The Empty Library" in Berlin. Every time I see newspaper articles like this, I'm reminded of it.

Let people read and do what they want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else.
