Frinton-on-Sea has always been a bit snooty. No pubs were allowed, and instead of "keep off the grass" signs they had ones that read "no picnicking upon the greensward". An old railway advert, seeking to attract ferry passengers said "Harwich for the Continent". It was invariably defaced with "and Frinton for the incontinent"

The reason for the numeric discrepancy is that not all submissions pass moderation
