Currently being forced to use Google Chrome on the work laptop due to a “security update” that has managed to make other browsers unusable.

Top tip: disabling chrome://flags/#omnibox-enterprise-search-aggregator greatly improves usability!

It completely prevents the phenomenon by which the thing you want from your history appears in the drop down, but gets replaced by a “suggested search” just before you click it.

@opennet То есть гугл как всегда остаётся рекламной и следящей помойкой.
Сколько лет они обещали запретить third-party cookie, которые используются для слежки, но так и забили на это.
Бизнес построен на антиприватности.

#GoogleChrome is going to keep third-party cookies turned on by default, but it's pretty easy to turn them off (along with other ad features) by putting a "managed policies" file in the right place. Saves having to remember to do it for all users and profiles. (And there's a similar file to control the built-in ad features in #Firefox, too.)

Protip:

You can drag an image with text into a Chrome window and use Google Lens to copy the text to paste elsewhere.

To use Google Lens, click in the address bar and click on the camera icon that pops into the bar. Use your cursor to select text in the image.

#Google #Chrome "feature" now broken.

I made many #GoogleChrome search engine "bookmarks" for sites I use often. As a keyboardist, I'd create engines with good shortcuts, but the URLs wouldn't use `%s` for the search string. E.g., my work uses #Canvas LMS, so I had a `cnvs` engine with URL `org.instructure.com/login/saml`. I'd type `cnvs` in the box, press enter, & away it'd go.

Now engine URLs without `%s` are invalid! I add `%s` to make them work, but now I must type a search string, too! 😛👹👺
