Tragedy is the only word for this. I have scaled the cables many times (none recently) and there is no getting around how dangerous that climb can be. We at least had a harness and we would carabiner to to the cable and reattach at each pole. Plus ANY hint of weather (both rain and lightning can be deadly up there) makes it a NO GO which may have prevented this slip in the rain

I have to be honest I am surprised it is still allowed and there is, aside from a reservation, no requirements to meet before you do it. (To be fair the hike to the cables will shake out 80% of the pretenders) #yosemite #climbing #halfdome #accident

I took this picture in 2018 with an iPhone. There was a lot of haze in the air from wild fires that made for this magical picture. I took a few selfies too, but they don’t look real.
