My Actual Brain<p>I see a lot of books/tutorials about mysql. Can I use those to understand mariadb? It seems that I can, it also seems that mariadb is preferred to mysql.</p><p>If anyone has any good sources to learn more about databases, I would love to hear them. I am just getting started with them.</p><p>I'll mainly be using it to hold text and numbers.</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homelab</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SysAdmin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SysAdmin</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/selfhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosting</span></a></p>

Kevin Bowen :xfce:<p>It's as good a time as any to convert the house almost completely over to <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/IPv6" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IPv6</span></a> while my partner is away... And she'll be none the wiser. 😄 </p><p>Glad I've become a bit of a neo-Luddite and reduced the number of home IP devices over the years from ~20+ down to about 5. </p><p>I've been through 3-4 aborted Enterprise IPv6 migrations in the last 25 years. Mauricio Teixeira 🇺🇸🇧🇷<p>What do you do folks with old/small SD cards?</p><p>I found out I've been accumulating a bunch of 2/4/8 GB cards, which are not really much useful these days. Trying to figure out if they're still useful, or if I should just trash them.</p><p>(Note: I do have a bunch of USB flash drives as well, so using adapters to make use of them as such doesn't help).</p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/homeLab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homeLab</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/SelfHosted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SelfHosted</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/RaspberryPi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPi</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/SelfHosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SelfHosting</span></a></p>

Rachel<p><span>So looking at my home networking, I've got three main options<br><br>1. Keep opnsense as the router, possibly even keep the switch but add a 2.5gb switch <br>2. Go crawling back to unifi (less likely, $$$)<br>3. Swap the core out with Microtik, including router and core switches <br><br>The third option is really interesting to me, but I've heard people talk about limitations that they've encountered with Microtik so I'm really curious how people feel about them and what those limitations were<br><br></span><a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Networking" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Networking</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Homelab" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Homelab</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/MicroTik" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MicroTik</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Unifi" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Unifi</a> <a href="https://transitory.social/tags/Opnsense" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Opnsense</a></p>

Mika<p>I'm testing out <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Jellyfin" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Jellyfin</a> as a possible alternative to <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Plex" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Plex</a> in my <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/homelab" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#homelab</a>, so far so good, but I'm kinda puzzled why the subs on my media seem kinda "broken"? As in, they're all perfectly fine when played from my Plex server, but when playing them on Jellyfin (through the Web UI), they're not at all synced to the actual video/audio. What's up with that?</p>
