MAN Truck & Bus has launched large-scale battery production at its #Nuremberg site in #Germany, investing nearly €500 million in total, with €250 million directed towards battery production for eTrucks and eBuses. This expansion, alongside €250 million for diesel engine production, will secure 400 sustainable jobs, many filled by retrained staff. The new batteries, using NMC cell chemistry, feature advanced safety systems and are produced using a modular, fully automated, and scalable process. Production is designed to reach 100,000 units per year, with an emphasis on flexibility and efficiency. MAN aims for half of its trucks in Europe and 90% of city #buses to be zero-emission by 2030, with series production of MAN eTrucks set to begin in #Munich in June 2025.

MAN #Truck & Bus is aiming to decarbonise its logistics by increasing the use of electric vehicles (BEVs) in its operations. A tender for BEVs on 40 routes has been launched, with series operations starting in 2026. MAN trucks drive up to 165 million kilometres annually. A test run with DB Schenker is underway using electric MAN eTGX #trucks on routes like Bamberg-Munich-Bamberg, with positive feedback on energy efficiency and driving experience. MAN is expanding its charging infrastructure at sites including #Munich, #Karlsfeld, and #Nuremberg, #Germany, with 170 new locations planned across #Europe in partnership with E.ON. Since 2025, over 150 eTGXs have been deployed, saving 820 tonnes of CO2. MAN also provides eMobility consulting for smooth transitions to electric #transport.

We would never have come across this fascinating church if we hadn’t gone out for a walk with Patty’s virtual-German brother and his wife during our December visit to Munich. (they are Americans who have lived and worked in Germany for decades.) They took us on a long, looping walk through some neighborhoods that aren’t exactly tourist hotspots. In #Munich, the surface metro is called "S"-Bahn and the underground is the "U"-Bahn. There's this elevator on my way to work that has these three buttons: "O", "S" and "U". Which one would you pick to get to the "S"-trains when you're coming from the "U"-trains?

Over and over I've seen tourists with suitcases make the wrong choice in this elevator. It bothered me so much that I've printed a label to fix the #UX of this #usability disaster.
