Looking at an undocumented #OpenStreetMap key "dedication" : taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys

This seems to be used exactly as I would expect: to explicitly state who (or what) a place of worship is dedicated to as in "St Paul" for St Paul's Cathedral.

Use cases: making churches with shared dedications easier to find; churches better known by other names, so dedication not obvious (King's College Chapel); obscure dedications, particularly for churches in Wales (St Tudwal, this morning) 1/2

Have you ever needed street widths on #openstreetmap but found that the width data on #osm is very much incomplete and if present, often in non standardized notation?
I ran into this problem recently and published a #python package that deals with this problem: osm guesstimator.

Alright, #openstreetmap people: what's the best way of doing lightweight, coarse, local reverse geocoding using OSM data?

I just need admin area and "x km west of <place>", not street-level. Ideally I'd like translations/prominence from Wikidata. I don't need realtime updates and I don't want a full osm2pgsql database if I can help it.

Is this a thing that exists?

lemmy.worldWhat details are "worth" mapping? - Lemmy.WorldI’m currently mapping the village i live in (northern Germany). The building outlines and streets where already done by somebody else, so i mainly added the addresses to most buildings in my village and corrected some of the outlines. I did this with Organic Maps and later Vespucci. Now my question: what other information is important enough to map? I could go around and map every tree and specify the roof types for the buildings, but that would take ages and I think there are other details that are way more important to map for everyday openstreetmap users. Is there some wiki page that lists the most important attributes that should be mapped? I searched on the OSM wiki but couldn’t find such a list. Thanks in advance.
