Ad Astra per Aspera... In the ruins of Onizuka AFS, Sunnyvale, California was an off the books Space Shuttle Columbia Memorial. It was behind what was the tank and antenna farm for the Blue Cube. It has been vandalized beyond recognition now sadly. I came across it in 2018 and tried to get the USAF or NASA to at least try to preserve it to no avail.

To the crew of STS 107, your courage will never be forgotten.

On February 1st, 2003 STS-107 Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated during reentry killing all onboard. In 2018 while exploring what remained of Onizuka Air Force Station, I found a small memorial built by those stationed there. Names of those lost were arrayed around what appeared to have been a garden. with plaques naming the astronauts.
