We did a nice 14 mile bike ride this morning from Capitola to Santa Cruz and back along the coast. When we rode past the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park we found there was the annual school band competition.

From the web site, "Join us for an exciting musical parade as 55 Northern California high school and junior high school marching bands compete next to the iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in the ONLY band review with warm sand, cool surf, and hot rides!

Marching bands will be judged in categories such as music, showmanship, and marching.
Junior high bands will be limited to the first 10 registered."

Kind of cool.

We did a nice leisurely 20 mile bike ride this morning from Aptos (CA), through the Capitola Village, to Santa Cruz, and back along the coast. We stopped about halfway along the ride near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park. The photo view is toward the north from across the San Lorenzo River.

It's a nice way to start October.

Kathy and I did a nice leisurely bike ride this morning from Capitola to Santa Cruz, and then back on a road that parallels the coast.

We stopped about mid way where I took this photo that shows the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park on a foggy morning and looking toward the north from a bluff across the San Lorenzo river.
