"In 1991, Allee Willis became one of the first music artists to recognize and evangelize the Internet as an upcoming new form of mass entertainment following radio, television, and cinema. She came up with an idea of willisville, a visual collaborative network and interactive, story-driven online social world. Preceding modern social networks by at least a decade, willisville was supposed to combine traditional media, commerce, and virtual games by allowing Internet users to connect with each other to share ideas, collaborate, and exchange information. Mark Cuban (who later owned NBA team Dallas Mavericks and pioneered online streaming for sport events) became a CEO, while producer and multimedia artist Prudence Fenton (Grammy winner for Peter Gabriel's Steam video) joined Allee as one of the chief engineers and designers of the project.
Several showbiz and tech giants, such as AOL, Microsoft, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., and Disney recognized a business potential of the concept, while Intel Corporation sponsored a creation of willisville prototype in 1995. The project turned out to be too innovative for the mid-nineties, though, and was abandoned several years later."—Discogs [Unsourced]

I have to be constantly reminded that I am a naif blonde.(*)

I thrill with every little achievement of others, I tend to trust people from the beginning, I'm slow to perceive naughtiness.(**)

So, I have trouble to understand envy, and envious people. And also hate, misanthropic people. Do you know hate is a stronger feeling, i.e., causes stronger attachments than love?

#littleme #feeling #thinking #sharing

(*) Perhaps you've read some of Marylin Monroe's biographies? Have you ever wondered why she would kill herself exactly when she was getting on her feet again after a campaign of slander by Fox studios?

(**) You probably will not believe, but it took me more than a month (I cannot precise) to perceive that this :alice_party: was a sausage. 😅

The theme of #HolyWeek in #TheDisciplesWay is #sharing & today’s verse (I John 3:14, 16-18) talks about how sharing with everyone is central to eternal life. The most pertinent verse is 17 which asks how God’s love abides in anyone possessing the world’s goods who refuses to help those in need. That is a potent question for the modern world where the wealth divide seems to be increasing with each passing day & so many justify their stinginess by citing the “prosperity Bible” It’s interesting that the reading omits verse 15 which states that those who hate do not have eternal life because so much of the selfishness I see around me & the world seems based on hate. “Those people” do not deserve my help, “I deserve to keep what I have because no one helped me” or “I want to be sure I’m only helping people who really need it” are common justifications for not sharing & hate underpins all of them. Answering the call to share today is an act of radical love few seem capable of.

- [ ] I might have access to large number of m4b audiobooks. There are many long mystery series plus a good dash of good literature. What could I do with them?
- [ ] Give them to some library. Requires library have hardware, disk space and willingness.
- [ ] What libraries might be willing?
- [ ] Create my own server space and offer access to friends and families? I would require disk space and a collaborator. (nb I am retired)
- [ ] Split up the collection and offer smaller choices for libraries? Other options?
- [ ] Comment or DM @elein
