ScotsBear 🏴
And here I am on CachyOS / Hyprland!

Not without a fight, I can tell you! The installer did NOT want to play with my requested drive customisations so after five goes I let the installer just have at the entire drive itself and boom, here we are.

In the last hour I've been playing I have twice very nearly quit this and installed Garuda's own Hyprland spin. Garuda do a LOT for you (by way of setup and Install - after that NOPE) where Cachy is more of a bare-bones install. There isn't even a file manager! I'm feeling a wee bit overwhelmed at the growing mountain of Learning and customising in line for me if I want anything like the setup I just, erm, left.

But you know what? Let's tough it out for a bit and see how I get on. My browser is back and after several eye-straining hours my keyboard's back-lighting is on again. Everything else is just Time and Internet Searches. :neocat_cool_fingerguns:

The default wallpaper is horrid. That's very much next on the list to tweak. And yeah, that's fiddling in a config file, I think. Most of Hyprland will be like this but I knew that going in. Riding the bleeding edge here, humans!

And we're using a new(er) bootloader called Limine (which apparently plays very nicely with Snapper snapshots) which I'll need to research to find out if it can choose options automatically. Having to press some keys every time I want to boot is not optimal.

#Linux #CachyOS #StrangeNewWorlds
