...the rate of inflation. Open educational resources are a powerful response to these ills, using Creative Commons licenses to get free -- and often better, more adaptable! -- learning materials into the hands of students. Open education can be thought of as a kind of positive analogue of the previously discussed Weapons of the Weak in the battle against fascism.

It isn't fair for me to be charged a "penalty" by my college because I have fallen into worse poverty and cannot even afford a daily allowance for college or for petrol. I needed them to extend my semester, but they insisted on a penalty of RM400. I believe I must pay this when I re-enter college in July. However, I have decided not to pay it immediately, but rather to have a conversation with the staff first to discuss the matters behind the penalties that justify them being charged to me, and why I am being penalized due to my hardship (poverty) and need for a hiatus. #StudentDebt #PovertyIsNotACrime #EducationForAll #KrisisKewanganPelajar #MahasiswaMalaysia #KenaikanYuran #AcademicExploitation #FightTheFee #EducationApartheid #WaiveTheFee #StopStudentPenalties #SolidarityNotFines #CostOfLivingCrisis #YouthInDebt #BrokenEducationSystem #MalaysiaBoleh #ReformasiPendidikan #Malaysia #MSU #MSUCollege #Education #Vent #Hardships

The Department of Education has proposed plans for even more cancellation. Read about the plans here: studentaid.gov/manage-loans/fo

And submit your public comment: federalregister.gov/documents/

Particularly, if you can testify to how the proposed rule would affect you specifically (or how debt covered by the proposal is burdening you), that's most helpful.

Weiner and Newsom gutted instead of solving the problem of private unaffordable housing: luxury units with amenities that students say they don’t need and increasing pressure on the cost of other in the market. In many cases load is as much about housing costs as it is about .

Ian Millhiser also wrote a good piece on the Supreme Court's student debt ruling, but so did Mark Joseph Stern:

"Chief Justice John Roberts’ decision in Biden v. Nebraska blazed past a clearly insurmountable standing problem to scold the president for even trying to use the law according to its own plain terms in order to offer mass debt relief in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic."
