Hello Urusai! I've recently completed my voyage on the Octodon and landed here.

I love #videogames, especially #jrpgs. I stan for #FinalFantasy and #Xenogears is the greatest game ever made.

I love my #anime. I will forever appreciate #Evangelion and #Escaflowne, but the universe is so much bigger than two series from the 90's.

I am a #vegetarian who drinks entirely too much #tea.

I work in technology. We all speak a thousand dialects to make the computers go bleep-bloop.

Happy Monday from Monday! I hope it’s off to a great start! :bunhdheart:

Today’s reminder is to make your place a bit more comfy for you! That could mean adding more pillows so it’s all cuddly, or getting a stool for your shower so you slip less, or having an extra cute spot for your plushies! Your home, your needs and your comfort! Yeah! :bunhdlurk:

Today’s tea is Earl Grey with honey, I’m all set to start the streaming day off comfy! What are you brewing up? :blobfoxflooftea:

Bashful Monster in a Teacup
Humans aren't the only ones who enjoy a spot of tea now and again. Little monsters have been know to slip quietly into kitchens when no one is around and sneak a sip or two of freshly brewed sweetness. Alas, some of these tiny creatures may become so enamored with the tea, that they sip themselves silly and fall into a state of euphoria, causing all manner of behavior.

I think I've failed the presumed path of aging in that the older I get, the *less* conservative I get, and I get less and less interested in all those supposed goals beat into my American head by decades of television, in that luxuries, status, wealth, and fame are all far less interesting to me than a good cup of tea, a decent baguette, a nice walk every day, a serviceable bicycle, and shoes that fit well.

Brewing #tea removes #lead from #water
High surface area of tea leaves means they adsorb toxic metals released by boiling water.
“We’re not suggesting that everyone starts using tea leaves as a water filter,” said author Vinayak Dravid. “Our goal was to measure tea’s ability to adsorb heavy metals. By quantifying this effect, our work highlights the unrecognized potential for tea consumption to passively contribute to reduced #heavymetal exposure in populations worldwide”

It's a genmaicha kind of morning. Drinking one that's "extra green" meaning it has matcha powder in it as well.

No photo so just picture a really green tea. Yeah, like that. #tea @tea

So I needed a tea for my office. The water supply there is kinda crap, and I don't want to start messing around with bringing my own water filtration, etc. My colleagues think I'm weird enough as it is….

This tea hits the spot. It's a 毛尖茶 (máojiān chá, a grade of tea made from tips that still have the fine hairs on them) from …

Yeah, this gets complicated.

The tea itself is grown in 河南信阳 (Xinyang, Henan) though for some reason it was packaged in 湖南省益阳市 (Yiyang, Hunan). It was picked, according to records, on February 6, 2025, making it the last flush of winter tea. Winter teas tend to be heavier-flavoured teas without the light notes of spring teas or the complex aromas of autumn teas. This means it's cheaper, naturally, but it's also suited to poor quality water: the stronger, darker flavour is perfect for cutting through the water's unpleasant mouthfeel and taste.

OK, maybe it wasn't all that complicated.

Note that as a winter tea it's not the premium grade, but this is still a high-grade tippy tea. It lacks the buds of the truly top-grade teas, but it is all tippy leaves and processed very well. It is a respectable tea, not Salada-grade garbage.

As usual more information is in the alt text and Mastodon users will have to click through to see all the photos.
