After a Verite News and <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://newsie.social/@ProPublica" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>ProPublica</span></a></span> investigation, a Louisiana district judge has vacated the death sentence of Jimmie Duncan, whose 1998 murder conviction was based on allegedly fabricated bite-mark analysis. Judge Alvin Sharp pointed to new testimony that said such analysis is "no longer valid" and "not scientifically defensible." Duncan, now 56, has spent 27 years on death row. It is unclear yet whether he will walk free.
