The Hollywood Strikes are a big deal. The Studios and evil AMPTP are going to drag this out as long as possible in the hope of demoralizing and crushing resistance.
We have to fight back. And, we need to help the strikers.
Alongside various forms of support, such as contacting lawmakers/public figures, signing petitions, and canceling/pausing payments to any of the studios/companies, we need to provide practical support.

Imagine Dragons went to Netflix to serenade the WGA picketers outside their company. The press is reporting this as if it was something generous Imagine Dragons did, but as you know, this band sucks. Hard.
Writers especially would know uninspired, cliché-ridden lyrics when they hear ’em. So it’s far more likely this was an evil tactic on Netflix’s part to discourage the picketers. Well played, Netflix; now go back to figuring out how chatbots can write your next dozen one-season shows. Meanwhile your dispirited writers are forced to endure Dan Reynolds screaming through the bridge of every song. “My patience is waning / 𝘐𝘚 𝘛𝘏𝘐𝘚 𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘌𝘙𝘛𝘈𝘐𝘕𝘐𝘕𝘎?” No. Not in the slightest. Piss off.

Also, watching the credits of this big budget DisneyMarvel thing, I could not help but notice ALL OF THE TAX BREAKS this film got from a veritable UN delegation's worth of countries reprented. Hmm. #WGAStrike
I have no problem with corporations paying their CEOs tons of money. Like these:
• AMC: $24m.
• Comcast: $32m.
• Disney: $24m.
• Fox Corp. $22m.
• Netflix (two CEOs): $51m and $50m.
• Nexstar: $39m
• Paramount: $32m.
• Sony: $4.5m. (Okay, he’s not paid 𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘴.)
• Warner Bros. Discovery: $39m.
They justify these salaries by pointing to all the profits they make their shareholders. And they do make billions.
But they can’t afford to fairly compensate their writers?

One of the things the Writers Guild of America is on strike about is producers’ use of artificial intelligence to generate ideas or scripts. Because they’re already doing it. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if, during the strike, some eager producer doesn’t try to use Chat GPT to write shows without writers.
Here’s the catch: Thus far judges have ruled if AI creates something, you can’t claim it as yours. It’d belong to the creator… but the creator’s a machine, and can’t own anything. So it belongs to no one. Can’t copyright it. Can’t stop others from using it if they want; if I swipe a show’s AI-written script, change the names, and use it on my show, the other show can’t stop me. It’ll be madness and chaos… which’ll be way more fun to watch than the lame clichés spit out by the AI.
