sgt1372<p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SocialSecurityFairnessAct" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SocialSecurityFairnessAct</span></a> </p><p>I just received a letter from the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SSA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SSA</span></a> notifying me of a 40% increase in my Social Security benefits beginning March 2025 and the deposit of a lump sum payment for back payments due from Jan 2024- Feb 2025 under the Social Security Fairness Act (<a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SSFA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SSFA</span></a>).😊</p><p>Of course, this doesn't include the roughly the $50k in Social Security benefits that I previously earned but never received between 2015-2025, because my benefits were reduced by the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/WindfallEliminatonProvision" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WindfallEliminatonProvision</span></a> & <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/GovermentPensionOffset" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>GovermentPensionOffset</span></a> that reduced my benefits because I received a government pension that was not covered by Social Security, which is the problem that the SSFA was enacted to address.</p><p>Something is better than nothing & fortunately whatever <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/DOGE" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DOGE</span></a> is doing to f*ck with the SSA didn't affect this increase in my benefits. 😎</p><p>I hope that others of you here who were likewise affected have received a similar notice from the SSA.</p>
