Aggenstein, last night.

Photo of a mountain (Aggenstein) illuminated in orange light by the sunset/alpenglow, towering in the distance and reflecting in the completely still water surface of the mountain lake in the foreground. In between, near the lake, gentle rolling meadows with several small wooden huts then forests and deep valleys behind. Almost clear sky with some streaky clouds. A refuge (Bad Kissinger Hause) is visible on the ridge on the right side of the mountain.

8 Jahre ist es jetzt mittlerweile her, dass ich dort oben auf ca. 2.700m stand und diesen malerischen Sonnenuntergang erleben durfte. Es war der anstrengendste Auf- und Abstieg, den ich bisher erleben durfte, der von einer Woche Muskelkater begleitet wurde. Ein Glück war zu diesem Zeitpunkt meine Foto-Ausrüstung mit der ur-E-M5 mit dem Kit von Olympus noch superklein und superleicht.
Doch da oben zu stehen und sein Gipfelradler bei diesem Anblick genüsslich zu schlürfen hatte schon echt was.

“Alpenglow, Meadow” — Evening alpenglow comes to high peaks beyond a flower-filled meadoow, John Muir Wilderness.

Since I was unable to get to the Sierra much this season — it is a long story — I’m revisiting the archives, where I find a lot of interesting photographs that were “left behind.” This one comes from a trip into a high backcountry region with a group of fellow photographers a few years back.
