China surges ahead in the energy revolution, achieving stable operation of a thorium molten salt reactor producing 2MW of power. Chinese scientists are already working on scaling up to 10MW and pioneering thorium-powered ships.

Since these types of reactors use molten salt, they don't have to be built near large bodies of water as is the case with traditional uranium based reactors.
