This isn't being patronisingly out of touch, it's active unpleasantness: Treasury Minister acknowledges that saying disability benefits are "pocket money" is wrong and apologises, Chancellor agrees that it is wrong then runs with the analogy, both assume that there are "Saturday jobs" aplenty everywhere and that the people whose benefits are being slashed have access to those jobs, can do them and are likely to be recruited for them.
I'm beginning to wonder if MPs should be made to spend every parliamentary recess on Universal Credit with no other recourse to funds and subject to the regulation and service delivery they impose on us common bogs.
