"Garland’s extreme solicitude to avoid courting the impression of promoting partisanship or other unlovely kinds of divisiveness in the pursuit of accountability on high is clearly a personal shortcoming—but it’s also a more widespread malady afflicting the culture of legal oversight in Washington. Leonnig and Davise reported that Garland and senior DOJ officials even hesitated in authorizing sedition charges . . . "

#Trump quipped that they would call the memo the “deranged Jack Smith signing,” invoking a pejorative he has frequently used to attack the former special counsel.

#Trump on Tues signed a memo suspending #security clearances for employees at a #law firm who assisted w/fmr special counsel #JackSmith’s investigation into the now-president.

New: #Trump's memo targeting the law firm representing Special Counsel #JackSmith is out -- orders the suspension of any security clearances held by Peter Koski and other lawyers at Covington & Burling, and directs agencies essentially to stop using the firm as outside counsel

"So & his team *in their own words*:

-Knew they lost
-Knew it was not legal for Pence to over turn
-Knew the states did not have fraud issues
-Researched "alternative electors" a month in advanced of those claims
-Knew the documents were unofficial
-Took part in the transfer process
-And attempted to pass off forged documents directly to the VP
-Because of a pre-meditated plan to steal the election.

The first volumes represent 1889 pages of evidence, 70% still under seal."

This is just from the 30% unsealed, and there are more volumes to go.

The case could not be more clear.

And as a reminder, Trump's team refused to dispute the authenticity of any of this evidence, they only ask for it to be delayed as it would "hurt their client" during the election."

@StevenSavage was just looking for an excuse to dismiss the case & found 1.

can file an appeal to reverse Canon's decision w/the 11th Circuit.

Alternatively, Smith might be able to refile the case in DC, where IMO he should have filed the case to begin with, where the matter of the "legitimacy" of his appointment can be litigated, if need be.

However, if the goal was to delay prosecution until after the election, the damage has been done. 🤦‍♂️
