Dear Band in August,
Welcome to the beginning of an exciting 16 weeks of marching band.
Be humble. You might think you’ve got it figured out, but there’s a lot to learn about this art form, and yourself.
It’s not always going to be easy; sweat, soreness, and frustration await you.
You’re not meant to go on this journey alone. If you feel alone, reach out and your fellow band members, a section leader, or your staff will be there.
Pause, breathe, drink water, and learn to look at this season as a series of moments that will lead you to that one special performance.
When you learn to trust your Staff, your band, and yourself, you’ll head home from that last dismissal realizing that this season you’re about to embark on is worth every early morning & late night.
You’re about to take the most important step - the first step - and I can’t wait til you get to this last close.
