geographile<p>When I read stories like this that are feeding demand for recall of our current DA, whose (incumbent) opponent in the last <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/election" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>election</span></a> was corrupt, I wonder whether we think of imprisonment more as <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/revenge" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>revenge</span></a> or punishment. It certainly not so that they can learn to be better people. And I wonder whether getting deeper into the mind at the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/prosecutors" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>prosecutors</span></a> who make deals would help, if there were more <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/transparency" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>transparency</span></a>. </p><p>In this case, it says pleas were accepted to avoid a negative outcome in a case that was moving "glacially." Would the people who expected a certain label on the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/punishment" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>punishment</span></a> or a certain number of years prefer to risk nothing all? I don't understand all of the <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/psychology" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>psychology</span></a> around it.</p><p>.</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/incarceration" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>incarceration</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/alamedaCounty" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>alamedaCounty</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/pamelaPrice" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>pamelaPrice</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/lawAndOrder" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>lawAndOrder</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/DunDun" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DunDun</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/politics" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>politics</span></a> <br /><a href="https://www.berkeleyscanner.com/2023/12/15/courts/berkeley-families-slam-plea-deal-fatal-shootings-oakland/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">berkeleyscanner.com/2023/12/15</span><span class="invisible">/courts/berkeley-families-slam-plea-deal-fatal-shootings-oakland/</span></a></p>
