TW/CW: Police violence

More footage of the violence by plain clothed police cops in Binnengasthuis 1 (BG1). A lot of questions should be answered by the responsible authorities:

1. Was this on behalf of mayor Halsema? Did she agree? Does she still agree after seeing the footage?
2. How did the cops arrived there so quickly? If I understand correctly BG1 was not occupied that long after the evicted Maagdenhuis occupation. Or were those cops already in or near BG1?
3. If not already in the building. Who let them in? Did the UvA let them in?
4. Why didn't those plain clothed cops identify themselves as being police officers? Or at least more clearly.
5. Why did they wear plain clothes? And are they legally allowed to do this?

Another autistic child shot by police. We are heartbroken and angry. We know this situation ALL TOO WELL!! Our hearts go out to the teen’s family. This is why awareness isn’t enough - we need accountability and real change! And again the oh so tolerant 🙄 City of #Amsterdam roars its ugly head! #Students that occupied #Binnengasthuis 1 (part of Amsterdam University) are beaten up by plain-clothed police. They don't even care to cover their faces anymore. They look (and behave) like a gang. Mayor #Halsema's own personal gang.

✏️ edit: It was another location, occupied after the #Maagdenhuis was evicted.

The Kenyan government, under the orders of the dictator William Ruto, has been brutalizing, abducting and killing Kenyan citizens. #RutoMustGo

In this case, and not for the first time, he's attacking children.

“Before anyone had the chance to stay overnight, Calgary police officers stormed onto campus dressed like they were going to war. The cops violently dismantled the protest camp, firing 15 pepperball rounds and four pepper grenades at the participants and using a degree of physical force that gave at least two protestors traumatic brain injuries.” #PoliceViolence #Palestine readtheorchard.org/p/ucalgary-

My friend is giving evidence in court now, about attending a peaceful protest and being sprayed in the face with OC spray.

It's nerve wracking, and he's still got all the weight of media, financial risk, and worry, but he's being, in my opinion, courageous, responsible and really hard working, on behalf of everyone in Victoria who wants to protest for any reason.

If you have any words of encouragement, solidarity or thanks to share with Jordan, DM me and I'll pass it on once he's done giving evidence and cross examined. I'm sure he could really use the positivity.

"Otero County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Diaz-Austin age 28, is charged in the fatal shooting of 17 year Elijah Hadley outside Mescalero in June, 2024. Deputy Diaz-Austin is seeking dismissal of the first-degree murder charge on grounds that prosecutors filed a criminal complaint that failed to list witnesses to the shooting."

"Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman last month charged Diaz-Austin after Otero county conducted an internal investigation and found no violations of departmental policies."

"The hearing and protest are both scheduled for Monday and multiple news outlets plan coverage."

In the wake of historical against marginalized groups, followed by historical police violence against people protesting the original police violence, there are always calls by people who care about violence to address the underlying root causes. Addressing root causes–such as reducing inequality or making specific investments in housing, health care, education, transportation, toxic cleanup, nutritious food, sustainable ecological practices, the arts, and building strong networks of community members helping themselves through mutual aid and self-empowerment—are mostly ignored by politicians, even though evidence suggests that these strategies lead to short, medium, and long-term violence reduction.[1]
Instead, the segment of the public who cares about improving the lives of marginalized people is distracted and ultimately appeased with the promise of a “reform” like the .
