Memorial to John Stewart who founded the City of Glasgow Friendly Society in 1862. This sculpture, on the city's Douglas Street, is by William Kellock Brown. The aim of the City of Glasgow Friendly Society was to 'enable members of the industrial classes to arrange with one another for mutual aid during sickness or on the arrival of old age'.

A National Cycle Networt Millennium Mile Post on the Clyde Walkway in Glasgow. Erected in 2000, this is one of four post designs. It was created by Andrew Rowe, and is based upon the nautical and industrial heritage of his native Swansea. A programme to repaint as many of the mile posts as possible began in 2021, with each one being painted in its own unique way.

Had a great turn out for today's event at CUNY York College. Hoping someone shares pictures of participants in action with me because I can never take photos while making paper with people.
We made casts from 2 sections of the sculpture. I think people enjoyed it and appreciated the sculpture in a new way!

The statue of Mahatma Gandhi on Churchill-laan was created by sculptor Karel Gomes and placed in 1️⃣9️⃣9️⃣0️⃣.

Its location is symbolic, as Churchill and Gandhi were political opponents. Churchill once called Gandhi a ‘half-naked fakir’ but later sent his condolences after Gandhi crossed over to the other side. 👼

The statue shows a humble Gandhi, walking in a dhoti and sandals, holding a staff and a book. A colorful stone pattern leading to the statue symbolizes the unity of opposites he sought during his life. ☮️✝️✡️☪️🕉️☸️💟🤟
