Online gambling operators are sponsoring charities?? If only :(
We've identified a malicious gambling affiliate whose specialty is to buy expired domain names which used to belong to charities or reputable organisations.
Once they own a domain, they host a website impersonating its previous owner, where they claim to "deeply appreciate the support from [their] sponsors", which surprise surprise, all turn out to be dubious online gambling companies.
Because the domain they are taking over is often abandoned or managed by non-technical people, its previous owner often doesn't notify anyone that they've lost control of their website, so it continues being referenced in genuine content, and it continues getting traffic from old links scattered throughout the internet.

️ Den Bot-Kommentar habe ich baugleich bereits paarmal zu Gesicht bekommen. Hinter dem Link verbirgt sich übrigens ein Aufruf einer vorgeblichen Person aus UK, die für eine andere vorgebliche Person aus #Gaza Geld für deren angebliche Evakuierung zu sammeln vorgibt. Es werden herzzerreißende Umstände geschildert, während betont wird, dass die Zeit dränge. Wer oder was auch immer dort in Wahrheit finanziert wird. Alles daran ist faul.

Ich halte solche Spendenaufrufe für hochgradig unseriös, ich rechne mit #Betrug. Der Bot erbittet mit Hilfe impliziter Beschämung Spenden für eine vorgebliche notleidende Person. Hierbei ist auch nicht sofort zu erkennen, dass die persönliche Ansprache in Wahrheit durch einen Bot erfolgt. Es kann nicht verifiziert werden, wer oder was tatsächlich dahintersteckt. #PSA for anyone considering a sleep study for any reason:
STAY AWAY FROM BLACKSTONE MEDICAL SERVICES
They knowingly submitted a sleep study based on false data to my insurance provider. This is after sending me a dirty, broken pulse oximeter, then ignoring my calls and attempts to inform them of this. The sensor readings were consistently low, but I foolishly tested with it anyway. They then had a "doctor" generate a sleep report based on this incorrect data. Insurance is taking their side, which means I have zero options here except to grit my teeth and get fucked financially.
Seriously, I cannot stress this enough - look for literally any other option. Random strangers on reddit would be a smarter choice here.
