Does anybody know a FOSS software/plugin to scan photo slides? I'm thinking about something where we can put several slides on a flat scanner, and it would detect automatically the slide and do the cropping.

In non FOSS, it seems that VueScan does that, but I would like FOSS.

Thanks!

This is a call for people who can program and develop free applications for f-droid. This application is very useful. You can scan documents with the camera and it looks like a photocopy. But the person developed it announced back in February that they are giving it up definitely. That they accepted some pull requests on the project but would archive it without a new release because they really do not have time to put on it.

The way now is to step forward and make a fork

I have a very nice HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw. It has a scanner with an automatic document feeder.

On the Linux side, I usually use `xsane` to scan. This works when I put a document on the document glass. But it doesn't work with the ADF. When I tell xsane to use the ADF, the scanner sucks the documents through the ADF as it should, but then xsane pops up an error dialog that says "failed to start scanner : document feeder out of documents" and doesn't seem to have any scans.

I *did* get it to work with the `scanadf` command, so there's nothing really wrong, just some software confusion.

I have two questions:
* Is there something I can do with `xsane` to make it handle the ADF correctly?
* Is there an alternative to `xsane` that might work instead?

GELÖST!

@dancinyogi I am what is (I now know) called a , brain wired to try a thing until I understand the basics. Then I . The only reason I might pass on something is lack of space or lack of money. I played golf once, stayed with flying long enough to solo, made a dozen lampwork beads, illustrated a textbook on networking, published (2) supplements, fought in armor, brewed 3 batches of beer, built and sailed a boat, cast lost-wax jewelry, et cetera ad infinitum.

The Dalai Lama's quote, for me, applies to telling people when I like them, miss them, admire/mistrust/envy/thank them.

I’m not getting any younger, might not get any older.

Just heard on the : A call for a suspicious person came in. They are wearing an orange shirt and shoes (not sure on the pants situation) and they are acting strangely and screaming "I'M ON A LOT OF MUSHROOMS!!"

Mendocino County, of course.
