Pointless over policing by making residents’ lives much worse. We’ve seen a marked increase in drug activity on our street since the cops occupied the plaza. Once the cops leave and collect their overtime, the plaza will return to the way it was.

Mission Local · ‘A drug carnival’: Residents above 16th St. alleyways say they’re afraid to leave homeBy Abigail Vân Neely

I wonder if anyone keeps stats on SFPD's car chases that _don't_ result in significant damage to people and local businesses? The only ones I ever hear about are when someone gets killed when the suspect and/or police almost inevitably crash into a building.

Mission Local · Six hurt in S.F. police chase when SUV crashes into Mission sports barBy Joe Rivano Barros

Definitely one of my biggest concerns out in the western part of the city: “Nobody here stops at the stop signs let alone the crosswalks — sometimes drivers don’t even slow down — and you can’t see a small child over the hood of a tank-like vehicle.“

Mission Local · SFPD ‘chicken’ crosswalk sting broke right-wing trolls’ brainsBy Joe Eskenazi

Just heard SFPD scold a cyclist over their cruisers loudspeaker to "next time, wait until the light turns green". I presume this was after they crossed with the leading pedestrian signal, which was explicitly made legal in California as of Jan. 2024. (And is far safer than waiting for a turning vehicle to hook you)

You can imagine my shock that these dumbass cops don't know the laws they're supposedly enforcing.

FWIW, failure to enforce hazardous moving violations has resulted in my observing far more disregard for stop signs, traffic lights, and stopping before right on red.

and the Mayor's tolerance of SFPD's lack of traffic enforcement are contributing to more dangerous driving behaviors.
