Das Eintauchen in die Geschichte zeige doch, so Jenny Odell, dass nichts alternativlos und es eine Entscheidung sei, ob ein paar Leute eine Eigentumswohnung haben oder ziemlich viele Menschen einen Park. Aber um das zu begreifen, sehen und verstehen zu lernen, müsse man einem Ort wirklich in der Tiefe zuhören. Sich in seine so besondere Geschichte vertiefen und auf seine Lektionen einlassen. Und dann erst mal abwarten. Nichts tun. Erst dann können sich die Imaginationskräfte, die Basis und die Bedingung echter Veränderung überhaupt wieder regen. Und erst dann lasse sich erkennen, was diese Welt im Kleinen und vielleicht auch im Großen alles an Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten bereithalte und dass mitunter manches auch wieder besser werde. Und sei es in Form einer einzigen Ampel oder von ein paar Freiwilligen in einem Park in Oakland, die Tag für Tag die Rosen pflegen, einfach nur so.
