Defiance!<a href="https://sfba.social/tags/OTD" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#OTD</a> November 20, 1990Claw Hammer released their debut, self-titled LPThis might be one of the most underrated albums I’ve posted here so far. Claw Hammer was a Long Beach, CA quartet that formed in the late 80s. Their sound is unusual, and you can hear it on this debut album. Nine songs that bring to the front what made them so unique. Singer Jon Wahl’s wailing vocals, playing off the unique chord structures and instantaneous rhythm changes that cross Avant-garde punk and jazz with the mellow groove of The Meat Puppets. It’s got an energy not unlike that of the Minutemen or MC5.
