My husband and I know this man. My husband taught his kids. He's an incredible sweet guy. He is in the country legally- he pays taxes, he's married to a US Citizen, he has no criminal record and now he's in ICE detention. For those who thought "it can't happen here" it is happening here. #FreeKarim https://www.instagram.com/p/DHzAZhxJHcF/?img_index=1
from that insta post. "Karim was detained after an appointment to pick up documents to fulfill his work authorization requirement and to remain in the United States as he has since he has been in this country. When he arrived at the Intensive Supervision Appearance Program office, he was informed that there had been a mistake and he had to go to ICE. Once at the Newark ICE facility, Karim was apprehended. He had gone there willingly under the pretense of clearing up a “mistake”. Let that sink in."
@OldAndCranky That's terrible, I'm so sorry that happened. I hope his case will be resolved in his favor & his family is safe.
@OldAndCranky this is disgusting. Deplorable actions taken by ICE at the behest of Trump. A horrible situation.
Honestly, Sue, that was my first thought. Bonesaws are next. Convicted felon President Donald Trump is a mobster.
@mckra1g @OldAndCranky He's not brave enough to be a mobster, Molly. Nor loyal enough.
@mckra1g @OldAndCranky
But certainly, those people surround him. Because he can be bought.
@OldAndCranky regarding "can't happen here", I can think only of Israel as being another country that treats visitors so badly. If it could happen somewhere, these are the two countries that have taught law enforcement that their citizens are more worthy of other people. Not something new, even if now it gets worse.
