What's really fun is when you are standing on the ridgetop and the TBM is coming UP at you.
And no, the red never did completely out of that uniform set.
@dougfir @cvvhrn my dad talked about watching the bombers go into box canyons and pop over the ridges at the last moment as they unloaded their retardant. You've gotta be very confident in your release mechanism to be doing that.
Both my parents also talk about B52s flying through canyons in the high Sierra Nevada in the 70s when they were wilderness rangers in the back country.

I wonder if they were out of March AFB in Riverside county back then. Those planes were LOUD as in bone-curddling loud. Especially if the whole alert string was taking off one right after another. Us kids would wonder if this was the start of WWIII.
