Ok, longshot here; any Debian/Ubuntu ppl have recs for backup apps? I had an adventure recently that might have been mooted by the presence of a system backup.

@4d3fect I use the builtin DejaDup (a wrapper for duplicity) with backups going to GDrive, where I pay for 2 TB of space. I've used CrashPlan in the past (it ran about $10/month) but for about 5 months it would grab 100% of my CPU every hour and bog use down, so I dropped it. However, it was super-easy to use and I did successfully use it for recovery twice. If they have fixed the CPU issue and you are okay with the price, I recommend it.

@kingrat Thanks. I don't have much in the way of super important stuff, and I lost no data last time, but did learn a few lessons!
Probably better for me to try something without a sub fee atm.

@4d3fect You can do DejaDup to a network mounted drive, but I haven't attempted to set that up.
