Halloween has become a bit of a melancholy holiday for me. I do miss Halloween of old. But no chance trick or treaters will head down our dark road. We're empty nesters with no grandkids so no kids around to take trick or treating. It's ok though. I prefer the "veil between the worlds is thin" Samhain stuff to what Halloween has become. Not normally a fan of co-opting other cultures, but I do prefer it to be more of a Day of the Dead kind of observance. So, thinking about dearly departed loved ones and pets today.
I mostly miss carving pumpkins. These are pics from when we lived in the Bay Area. The last pumpkins I carved.
And in that spirit of remembered those that have passed on Samhain, here's a pic of our Cairn Terrier who passed in 2022 and our first pug who passed in 2017. Great dogs. Miss them a lot.
OK last #Halloween #Samhain post for today. Of course I have to post a link for Siouxsie and the Banshees' song Halloween. I kinda wanted to post a link for Spellbound which is from the same album and the song I like better. But in the final analysis, decided to go with the old chestnut.

I lied. *This* will be my last #Halloween post. Had to toot this pic of my daughter's Totoro costume she wore to work today and her text with her take on her Halloween costumes. I love her so much.
