#TheNewColossusChallenge

Next year, is 2026. 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The MAGAs will absolutely want to own the narrative and define patriotrism in America.

Our Job: Don't let them.

Don't let them define American Values and American Ideals.

As part of this, I want to throw out a challenge to all the musicians of America:

The poem on the Statue of Liberty, is called "The New Colossus". It has long been a statement of American values and patriotism.

It is the poem with those famous words, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free."

It is Public Domain, because it is so old. Nobody owns it. You don't need permission to use it.

So I hereby propose #TheNewColossusChallenge :

Record yourself setting The New Colossus to music. Give it a tune that you think is most fitting for it, and put it on the Internet starting Jan 1, 2026. If you can, make a music video.

I want to see new versions of The New Colossus in my feed every day. I want to see some version become a new national anthem.

I want MAGA to wail and gnash their teeth that everywhere they go, they hear The New Colossus - on the radio, the internet, the TV, at public events. I want to see a million people singing it on the National Mall on July 4th, 2026.

You know those music around the world videos? What about Colosus Around The Country?

, , etc as the foundation. It would be an instant anthem and could introduce undiscovered musicians.
