This crazy theory reduces to the usual Maxwell equations whenever there "just happens" to be no magnetic charge and current.

And when there's also no electric charge and current - like with light in the vacuum - it's actually 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 to combine the E and B fields.

i read a thing recently that blew my mind a little.
went something like:

people can imagine time travel to the past and one little act making massive differences in the timeline

but in their present they think even the greatest effort they can put in will not make any difference to the future

The telescope battery pack was too corroded so we had to make due with an iPhone through the lens.

Cancer, Celebration

Today, my moms graduating her PhD program! I couldn’t be more proud of her. She completed the bulk of her writing and research while also battling ovarian cancer. She doesn’t have long left, but she MADE IT HAPPEN. She really is my super hero.

Judge Layne Smith ruled today that Florida's new congressional map violates the ability of Black voters in northern Florida to choose their representatives. DeSantis drew the new map himself and dismantles the seat currently held by Rep. Al Lawson and divides it into two majority-white districts. Florida will likely appeal this decision and it will be paused and go to an appellate court and possibly the state supreme court or SCOTUS, both of which are hostile to minority voting rights, but every victory for fair districts, letting people choose their representatives, and not diluting Black people's votes gives voters a chance that the ruling will stand and that they can have fair representation.

TIL you can hide the menu bar on Mac OS. Pretty great to just have everything take up the whole screen by default.

The main thing Mastodon is missing from Twitter is misleading ads for extremely easy mobile puzzle games being played by someone impossibly stupid.

Homelessness, SFBA Politics

I really wish our civic servants would create real mechanisms to track the outcomes they purport to care about. How are we supposed to understand and address problems if we don't have reliable data around them? sfchronicle.com/sf/article/How

Politics, Supreme Court

I am quite surprised to find that they don't reference McFall v Shrimp at all. It seems highly relevant to the structure of their argument, right? hulr.org/spring-2021/mcfall-v-
