"I found these centuries-old comics about people with 'super powers'. Did people really have those?"
"No, people have never had- Heh. Well, some did. People like us did."
"Like us? But we're nothing special, there's nothing unusual about us."
"In those days, we were invisible."

My favorite part about cable management is imagining the experience of the electrons “riding” the lines and paths laid out by the cables.

It’s amazing that people don’t take off their backpacks while riding. “Hello, sir, your backpack is pushing me into the people sitting. Can you take it off?” “No, just move out of the way” 🙈🙈

I found this pretty interesting to read, but I haven’t yet looked into the underlying research. Neat, if true!

Finally let's do the general case! We can reduce this to the previous case with a change of variables, so we still get

⟨E⟩ = ½ nkT

So, each degree of freedom still contributes ½kT to the expected energy. That's the equipartition theorem!

I really enjoy, but it seems like there are a lot of city-wide problems that could use addressing. I appreciate's "Fixing our city" podcast, but its light on stuff _we_ can do and tends to focus on people who already have civic power

Does anyone know of any news sources in the SF/Bay Area (or even national/international) that provide actionable news content? I've seen a lot of "well, this sucks" followed by... nothing. If you know of anything that gives follow-up actions, I'd appreciate knowing about it :D

Headed over to the Fort Mason farmers market! Y'all should come check it out on this beautiful day

Today is a good day for Europe!

Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Moldova 🇲🇩 are granted the candidate status to become part of the European family.

Georgia 🇬🇪 is given the perspective to become a member of the EU.

Reasons I love my electric stove part 52: instead of listening to the fan while cooking my pasta, instead I get to enjoy Hilary Hahn

These stories remind me of why laws fail. When they’re not about helping people, and it’s about power over others, stories like these are inevitable.

Think Republicans will condemn this like they did protests in front of homes of Supreme Court justices or outside some places they went?

There was an armed man threatening Rep. Jayapal outside her home. All Brett Kavanaugh had to face was a handful of people making some noise while he ate an overpriced steak.

When there's peaceful protest directed at a Republican, dozens of think pieces about how "justices" should have the right to eat a fancy dessert in silence while they're suppressing everyone else's rights. Gunman outside of a Democratic Congressperson's home, crickets.
