Good personal news: The building inspector was here for about a minute, and all's fine. The electrician also tested all my smoke alarms for me.
Poor Tennessee was not a fan of the smoke alarms or the folks coming into the house, even briefly — but the replace-the-circuit-breaker-box project is now done!
OK, I still have a few things I still need to put back in place after moving them so the work could get done. But there'll be no more workmen to disturb my poor cat.
@jeridansky My dearly departed ginger girl wanted to help when my circuit breaker box was replaced. The electrician thought she was wonderful.

@StaceyCornelius Good for your electrician recognizing how wonderful she was! Tennessee is sadly scared of anyone but me. But he bounces back from the intruders and the loud noises amazingly well.

@firefly But now he’s out of hiding and we’ve had cuddles and treats. At the moment he’s curled up near my feet doing some serious cleaning. So all’s right in his world again.
