How many need to claim something causes autism or a chronic disease for #MAHA to think it's worth looking into? How big and how long does the study need to be? Why should someone or some group be trusted with making that call or doing the research?

AFAIK there are no perfect answers to any of these questions. There never have been. There have always been dissident voices. The only difference now is the power of the internet to multiply these dissident opinions into political pressure. #science

"A top Centers for Disease Control and Prevention official told staff this week to start planning for the agency’s splintering.

Several parts of CDC — mostly those devoted to health threats that aren’t infectious — are being spun off into the soon-to-be-created Administration for a Healthy America, the agency official told senior leaders in calls and meetings."

If MAHA truly wanted to tackle the chronic illness epidemic, they would provide the following:

Free respirators, Covid/flu tests and vaccines

Clean air in public spaces

Paid time off/sick leave

paid childcare

Mandatory masking in healthcare

Universal healthcare

Universal basic income

They don’t want to end the chronic illness epidemic, they want the chronically ill to disappear. There’s a big difference.

It’s eugenics on full display, and people are buying it because of their own internalized ableism.

They need to believe chronic illness can’t happen to them. That if they do the “right things” they will be fine.

Everyone is only temporarily abled. Help us fight for better social supports, healthcare and inclusion. It benefits everyone.

The MAHA movement claims to want to “make America healthy again”… and RFK Jr says he will end the chronic disease epidemic.

Yet we’ve seen no plans to improve the health or life of the chronically ill, and many plans that will end our lives faster.

Anti vaccine sentiment. Cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. Mask bans. Increase in the use of the R slur and various ableist attitudes.

Today Trump announced a tariff on pharmaceuticals, which will devastate the disability community.

We already live below the poverty line, often on a fixed income that barely covers the essentials. We can’t withstand economic uncertainty and supply chain disruptions as well as our non disabled peers.

This is another step in escalating eugenics. The Nazis targeted disabled people too… because they knew no one would stand up for us.

Please fight for us. Wear a mask. Call your elected officials. Reach out a hand in support.

Don’t leave anyone behind.

RFK Jr.'s "MAHA" movement doesn't want to eliminate chronic illness. They want to eliminate the chronically ill:

"MAHA does not want to save every life. MAHA wants to end the lives of those who can’t survive a world without vaccines, food safety, and hygiene, because MAHA believes that people exist on a spectrum of “weak” to “strong” and that they are the chosen Übermenschen who will survive without those things. "

Just like every other slogan on the right, “Make America Healthy Again” is just a smokescreen to harm Americans to benefit corporations and the wealthy.

#MAHA? No, make Americans sick, again.

Trump officials quietly move to reverse bans on toxic ‘forever chemicals’

Remember those workers at #Meta who suffered PTSD as a consequence of their jobs reviewing the toxic sludge posted on FB?

Here's Dr Wilson, once again putting his psyche and sanity in harm's way for the sake of preparing concentrated anti-disinformation. (And it's not even his real job!)

Use this hard-fought antidote. Share it with someone you know, who has sadly fallen into the #MAHA #antivax orbit

How pseudo-science drives out science when powered by quasi-religious ideology? This is a very good long-read about the similarities between 1920’s #Lysenkoism and today’s #MAHA movement.

On a personal note, in early 2000’s I got interested in #Marxism specifically through Lysenkoism - I simply couldn’t believe how apparently educated people could, for a quarter of century, aggressively push pseudo-scientific nonsense that visibly contradicted the physical, observed reality. This article explains very well how that happened, and how it’s happening again.

Science-Based Medicine · “Make America Healthy Again”: The new LysenkoismTrofim Lysenko was a Soviet scientist whose dogmatic science denialism led to mass famine when his ideas were applied to agriculture. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a lot like Lysenko in his science denial

“Without a dedicated agency to champion these programs, millions risk losing the oversight, funding and technical assistance for programs they rely on to live independently. We urge the administration to halt this reorganization and engage directly with the disability community before making changes that could jeopardize their rights and well-being.” disabilityscoop.com/2025/03/31 #Disability #AdministrationForCommunityLiving #CommunityLiving #USPol #MAHA #MAGA
